Test & System Engineer – Quadruped

What you will do

• Plan, prepare, and execute system integration tests on quadruped robots.
• Verify sensors, actuators, control functions, communication interfaces, and end-to-end system behavior.
• Perform smoke, sanity, regression, performance, reliability, and safety testing across hardware, software, electronics, and mechanical subsystems.
• Identify, classify, document, and track defects using Jira and related test management tools.
• Develop test reports, defect analyses, test benches, test rigs, and Hardware-in-the-Loop environments.
• Support root cause investigations, acceptance testing, compliance validation, product qualification, and CI/CD test integration.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable technical field.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in system, hardware, or integration testing.
• Understanding of robotic system architectures, including sensors, actuators, control systems, and communication interfaces.
• Experience with Jira, Xray, TestRail, Git, Python, and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Knowledge of gRPC, CAN, EtherCAT, UDP, and TCP/IP communication protocols.
• English language skills required; the role is on-site in Metzingen / Riederich.

Nice to have

• Experience with ROS 2 or comparable robotics middleware frameworks.
• Background in testing robotic, automation, automotive, or complex mechatronic systems.
• Knowledge of GitLab CI, Jenkins, compliance testing, EMC testing, or functional safety validation.
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop systems.
