TL;DR
Mission Operations Engineer II (Aerospace): Building and operating ground-system capabilities, flight operations products, command sequences, and mission simulations for complex lunar spacecraft missions with an accent on ground-segment integration, subsystem procedures, and real-time mission execution. Focus on designing anomaly-driven simulations, validating fault responses, coordinating cross-functional engineering teams, and leading console operations during critical mission events.

Location: hirify.global is headquartered in north Austin, Texas. Due to ITAR requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Company

hirify.global develops space and defense technologies for launching, landing, and operating space systems from Earth to the Moon and beyond.

What you will do

  • Derive and maintain operational requirements for ground-segment capabilities, including ICD and mission-specification content.
  • Integrate and validate ground-system tools, data pipelines, remote interfaces, and assigned ground-segment elements.
  • Develop flight ConOps, mission procedures, automation scripts, command sequences, FDIR, and operational products for spacecraft subsystems.
  • Design and lead Ground Readiness Tests, end-to-end mission scenarios, and Day-in-the-Life simulations with nominal and anomaly cases.
  • Coordinate engineering, software, hardware-in-the-loop, ground-service, IT, cybersecurity, and flight-dynamics stakeholders.
  • Lead real-time console operations during commissioning, maneuvers, anomalies, rehearsals, and long-duration shifts while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of experience in spacecraft operations, flight or ground software, or systems engineering.
  • Experience supporting at least one live LEO, GEO, or deep-space mission from the console.
  • Experience authoring flight procedures, telemetry displays, and mission-sequencing scripts, with subject-matter expertise in at least one ground- or space-segment subsystem.
  • Proficiency in Python for ground-system automation, mission-data processing, and spacecraft command-sequence development.
  • Structured troubleshooting skills and the ability to drive consensus and communicate technical status during time-critical events.
  • Must satisfy U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with long-duration, high-heritage, or operationally complex spacecraft such as ISS, LEO, or GEO systems.
  • Experience designing ground-segment tools or architecting end-to-end operational products.
  • Experience in CUI or secure mission environments and supporting government customers.
  • Active or former U.S. Government Secret-level or higher security clearance.

Culture & Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision plans with low plan deductibles.
  • Parental leave and short-term disability coverage.
  • Educational reimbursement.
  • Flexible paid time off options.
  • Equal opportunity employment based on merit, competence, and qualifications.
