Senior Mission Operations Preparation Engineer (Spacecraft Operations)

Location: Oxfordshire, UK, Didcot (Hybrid); hirify.global UK, Harwell. Relocation allowance may be considered.

What you will do

• Act as the Operations Technical Lead for missions under development and develop mission operations concepts for standalone missions or satellite fleets.
• Support operations development planning from preliminary design through the end of the mission.
• Define operability requirements, user stories, mission interfaces, procedures, and operations documentation with Flight Operations and mission-segment teams.
• Support satellite simulator development, mission database management, and the specification of mission-execution tools such as dashboards and trending tools.
• Develop system validation test specifications, plans, and procedures, and participate in mission simulations and other system tests.
• Interface between System and Operations teams during launch and early orbit, commissioning, routine operations, disposal, and potential anomaly resolution.

Requirements

• Degree in engineering, physics, or an equivalent discipline.
• Several years of demonstrable satellite-industry experience in real-time or spacecraft operations preparation across the complete mission life cycle; a primarily systems-engineering background may also be considered.
• Knowledge of ECSS, CCSDS, and ISO space standards, as well as mission-control systems such as SCOS-2000 or similar.
• Hands-on experience with systems-engineering processes, system testing, AIT, and developing and validating flight procedures.
• Software scripting experience, including Python or Tcl.
• Self-managed and proactive working style.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with operations-preparation tools such as MOIS or script-based tools.
• Familiarity with routine and critical real-time satellite operations.
• Experience with configuration management.
