Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Space) (C/C++/Python)

Location: Onsite in Tempe, Arizona, United States

Salary: $165,000–$260,500 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $205,000–$307,000 annually.

What you will do

• Analyze system-level requirements and derive software requirements.
• Design, implement, and integrate embedded software in C/C++ and Rust for satellite payload flight control.
• Develop embedded and system test software in C/C++ and Python.
• Build Linux, FreeRTOS, bare-metal, microprocessor, embedded processor, and FPGA applications and device drivers.
• Debug complex integration issues and design CI/CD infrastructure and automation services.
• Lead design reviews and multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and support Agile Scrum development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of embedded software design and implementation experience with C/C++.
• 4+ years of Linux experience, ideally in embedded environments.
• 3+ years of experience developing system test software in Python.
• Experience with Linux and RTOS applications, object-oriented software design, team progress reporting, and technical communication.
• US citizenship is required. Ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• Experience with FPGA architectures, Linux kernel drivers, RTOS, standalone embedded applications, or Rust.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, network security protocols, GDB over JTAG, and emulation environments.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, Jira, Jama, Artifactory, CI/CD, and GitHub Actions.
• Scrum Product Owner or Scrum Master certification.
• Experience with AI agents such as Claude Code or Copilot.
