Revenue Accounting Manager (SaaS)

Location: Palo Alto, CA; hybrid workplace

Salary: $90,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage revenue recognition from contract negotiation through financial statement disclosure.
• Partner with Legal and Sales to structure contracts that support business objectives while complying with revenue recognition policies and rules.
• Document accounting conclusions in technical memos and provide guidance on complex software revenue accounting issues.
• Drive revenue and cost of revenue month-end close, including accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, policy compliance, and standard reporting.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and support to Finance, Legal, and Business Development/Sales teams.
• Support auditors, revenue forecasting, and continuous improvements to revenue processes, systems, reporting, and analysis.

Requirements

• Extensive experience applying ASC 606 to enterprise software-as-a-service.
• At least 5 years of experience within a large public accounting firm and/or a small to mid-size enterprise software company.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business administration, economics, finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to summarize accounting and operational issues for business partners and leadership.
• Complex analytical problem-solving and project management skills.
• Proficiency with NetSuite and/or other revenue recognition accounting systems.
• Ability to collaborate with Sales, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Legal, Business Development, leadership, and internal and external auditors.

Nice to have

• CPA or ACCA/ACA qualification.
