TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer II (Aerospace): Developing and managing spacecraft systems engineering activities, including technical budgets, requirements, verification methods, simulations, testing, and mission technical development with an accent on satellite and spacecraft programs. Focus on defining system interfaces and CONOPS, analyzing vehicle functions and test data, and leading hands-on technical development for civil, commercial, and defense missions.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite role

Base pay range: $135,000–$200,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain technical budgets for vehicle performance.
  • Define system requirements, verification techniques, test methods, and data-analysis approaches.
  • Lead the technical development of spacecraft missions and work hands-on with flight hardware.
  • Conduct simulations and analysis across vehicle functions.
  • Develop interface specifications, CONOPS, and other system design documents with cross-functional teams.
  • Support program and product management activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or another technical engineering discipline.
  • At least 8 years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • U.S. ITAR eligibility or the required government authorizations are required for work in U.S. offices.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in engineering and an active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, STK, JAMA, or DOORS.
  • Experience with satellite operations and electrical, thermal vacuum, random vibration, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
