TL;DR
Structures Engineer III (Aerospace): Developing primary and secondary composite and metallic structures for orbital and lunar-lander spacecraft across design, fabrication, analysis, and testing with an accent on structural integration, mass optimization, and requirements compliance. Focus on creating CAD and manufacturing documentation, performing strength and sizing calculations, supporting production, and validating hardware through structural testing.

What you will do

  • Develop primary and secondary composite and metallic structures for orbital spacecraft and lunar landers.
  • Own structural design activities across conceptual design, layout, sizing analysis, production, and testing.
  • Optimize mass and production rates, requalify designs, and support configuration development and mission trade studies.
  • Support production teams with onsite design reviews, verification, and non-conformance closure.
  • Maintain requirements compliance, verification activities, delivery schedules, and mass budgets.
  • Create CAD models, manufacturing drawings, specifications, analysis reports, and test plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or civil engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace or related structures engineering.
  • Strong 3D CAD design and integration skills; Siemens NX or FiberSim preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and drafting techniques for component and assembly specifications.
  • Experience with precision structural integration and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to work across disciplines and provide technical guidance.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • Composite manufacturing, material selection, testing, and characterization experience.
  • Experience with Nastran, ANSYS, FEMAP, Simcenter, or similar FEA/FEM tools.
  • Experience designing and manufacturing advanced honeycomb panels, including heat-pipe integration and thermal-control systems.
  • Experience with vehicle-level static and vibroacoustic testing and aerospace structural analysis methods.
