Technician Facilities - Central Utility Plant (1st Shift)

Location: Fully onsite in Essex Junction, Vermont, United States; 5/2 schedule, Monday–Friday, 1st shift, with rotational weekend and holiday coverage as needed.

Salary: $43,100–$70,600 per year.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain central utility plant systems supporting site heating and cooling.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems and perform planned, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
• Maintain and repair equipment used for boilers, high-temperature hot water, chillers, compressed air, gas services, and electrical systems.
• Provide facility support to manufacturing, office, and laboratory customers, including equipment installation and upgrade projects.
• Maintain safe, reliable system operation in accordance with environmental, health, safety, and security requirements.
• Collaborate with other teams while supporting customer satisfaction and equipment reliability.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3–4 years of relevant mechanical systems experience.
• Experience with boilers, high-temperature hot water, chillers, compressed air, or related utility systems.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting ability, technical aptitude, attention to detail, and familiarity with Microsoft 365.
• Fluent written and verbal English and strong communication skills.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, stand or walk for up to 8 hours, wear required personal protective equipment, and provide occasional weekend coverage.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of mechanical or electrical systems operations and maintenance experience.
• Associate degree in HVAC, electronics, or mechanical studies.
• Industrial or commercial systems experience and knowledge of equipment controls, system design parameters, and safety or environmental shutdown scenarios.
• Project management, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
