TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer II, Machine Shop (Aerospace): Driving rocket component production from CAD models to test-ready components and assemblies with an accent on manufacturability, process efficiency, and engineering-to-machine-shop communication. Focus on improving cycle times and changeovers, developing work instructions, resolving quality issues, and supporting tooling, CNC programming, and work-holding design.

Location: Onsite at the manufacturing site in Briggs, Texas, approximately 25 minutes north of Cedar Park.

What you will do

  • Act as the liaison between the machine shop and engineering teams, providing design-for-manufacturing feedback.
  • Drive efficient and cost-effective production of rocket components from CAD models through test-ready components and assemblies.
  • Research manufacturing methods, improve production processes and cycle times, and implement quick-changeover improvements.
  • Manage long-lead-task lookaheads and maintain accountability for an assigned set of hardware.
  • Create work instructions, identify production issues, and coordinate corrective actions with quality.
  • Coordinate with tooling and programming teams on job readiness and support work-holding design and sourcing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or at least five years of machine shop experience implementing comparable responsibilities.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Pro-E, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or NX.
  • Advanced understanding of GD&T according to ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Ability to develop CAD models and create engineering drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Briggs, Texas manufacturing facility.

Nice to have

  • Process development experience in casting, forging, metallic 3D printing, or sheet metal.
  • CNC programming, machine setup, and CNC machine operation experience.
  • Tooling expertise, data analysis, capacity planning, and budget or schedule planning experience.
  • Startup or aerospace experience.
