Location: Must be based in Colorado, California, Texas, Florida, or Virginia; up to 25% travel to test and launch sites is required. Launch-site work may include Vandenberg Space Force Base, Wallops Flight Facility, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and Esrange Space Center in Sweden.

What you will do
- Design, build, activate, commission, and operate fluid systems and ground support equipment for launch sites.
- Lead design reviews and collaborate with engineers, technicians, vendors, customers, and site personnel on system upgrades and standardized processes.
- Lead integrated vehicle and ground operations, troubleshooting, anomaly investigations, and resolution of operational non-conformances.
- Write procedures and automation for launch-pad configuration, vehicle operations, and propellant and pressurant handling during countdowns.
- Develop maintenance strategies, operational guidelines, training, proposals, and regulatory compliance approaches.
- Guide early-career Fluids and Mechanical GSE team members and support hiring activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical, structural, propulsion, fluid, flight hardware, or test-operation systems.
- Experience designing, building, troubleshooting, or operating complex fluid systems and interpreting and designing P&IDs.
- Experience with hazard and risk analysis methods such as FMEA, FMECA, FHA, or HAZOP.
- Project management experience, including vendor management, budgets, schedules, and communication with senior leaders.
- Must satisfy ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. authorizations. Willingness to work nights and weekends during launch operations is required.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with data acquisition, control methods, and data analysis tools.
- Prior experience at a federal launch range and familiarity with applicable ASME, NFPA, NEC, NASA, and range-safety standards.
- Familiarity with Confluence, Jira, SVN, Bitbucket, or other version-control systems.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
