TL;DR
Executive Director, Medical Affairs (Oncology): Building Umoja Biopharma’s Medical Affairs function and strategy for clinical development and future commercialization with an accent on scientific leadership, KOL engagement, evidence generation, and compliant medical communications. Focus on establishing operating infrastructure, shaping real-world evidence and investigator-sponsored study strategies, and aligning Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, and Market Access stakeholders.

Location: Ideally onsite in Seattle, Washington at least 2 days per week; remote work may be available within the United States, with travel to Seattle at least 5 days per month.

Salary: $260,000–$385,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Establish the Medical Affairs vision, strategy, operating model, infrastructure, and growth roadmap.
  • Lead scientific and medical communications, publication strategy, congress planning, and evidence dissemination.
  • Develop KOL engagement, advisory board, investigator, and external scientific exchange strategies.
  • Shape real-world evidence and investigator-sponsored study plans and synthesize external medical insights.
  • Build the Field Medical/MSL strategy and support efficient clinical trial enrollment.
  • Partner with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, and executive leadership on clinical and regulatory milestones.

Requirements

  • MD, PharmD, or PhD and at least 15 years of industry experience, including significant Medical Affairs leadership experience.
  • Proven experience building or scaling Medical Affairs functions, preferably in emerging or clinical-stage biotech environments.
  • Deep knowledge of KOL engagement, publications, field medical models, and Medical Affairs best practices.
  • Experience in oncology is required.
  • Ability to work onsite in Seattle at least 2 days per week, or remotely within the United States with regular travel to Seattle.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as applicable, typically up to 30–50%.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting early- to mid-stage clinical development programs.
  • Commercial launch experience.
  • Experience in cell and gene therapy or autoimmune disease.
