Field Application Engineer - Semiconductor

Location: San Jose, California, USA; hybrid schedule with four days onsite and Fridays remote

Salary: $94,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

• Support consumer electronics customers with device selection, schematic reviews, PCB layout guidance, and design-in best practices.
• Act as a technical point of contact for customer engineering teams in collaboration with Bay Area FAE and sales teams.
• Own design-win activity from opportunity identification through customer commitment and propose complete system-level solutions.
• Develop and apply expertise in ESD protection, high-speed interfaces, capacitive sensing, force sensing, firmware integration, sensitivity tuning, and noise management.
• Support evaluation board bring-up, product demonstrations, application notes, reference designs, and customer-facing technical content.
• Share customer feedback and competitive intelligence with product, applications engineering, sales, and marketing teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; other engineering disciplines may be considered.
• 2–5 years of experience in FAE, applications engineering, product engineering, or systems engineering at a semiconductor company, distributor, or OEM/ODM.
• Experience supporting customers through design-in cycles and managing multiple concurrent engagements independently.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear customer guidance.
• Customer-oriented approach, competitive drive, sense of urgency, and consistent follow-through.
• Ability to work in the San Jose, California hybrid arrangement, with four onsite days per week.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with ESD protection, analog mixed-signal ICs, and sensing products.
• Experience with consumer electronics platforms such as smartphones, wearables, hearables, laptops, gaming, or smart home devices.
