Sr. Staff Back-end Engineer (Fintech)

What you will do

• Architect, design, and implement complex distributed, cloud-native systems across frontend, backend, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure.
• Build and operate large-scale payment microservices, event-driven pipelines, caching systems, and real-time APIs.
• Write and review production-grade code while improving performance, reliability, observability, CI/CD, security, and cost efficiency.
• Deliver mission-critical features for millions of users while maintaining high availability, concurrency, throughput, and data integrity.
• Lead distributed computing, fault tolerance, and multi-region scaling initiatives, including on-call reliability improvements.
• Mentor senior engineers and collaborate with product, design, and infrastructure leaders on technical vision and product strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated success in large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep full-stack development expertise with Java, Go, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or equivalent technologies.
• Hands-on architecture and design experience with microservices, event-driven systems, APIs, and real-time data processing.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, system design, and core payment systems.
• Fluent English required; Korean is a plus.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• Experience at major global fintech companies and with payment systems.
• Production experience building and deploying AI agents, GenAI, RAG, workflow automation, or LLM solutions.
• Expertise in Kubernetes, containerization, serverless architectures, and multi-region scaling.
• Publications, patents, or open-source contributions in distributed systems, payments, or AI applications.
