P2P Node.js Engineer (Remote)

What you will do

• Expand and strengthen core P2P networking and storage primitives for Holepunch.
• Implement high-performance networking code in JavaScript and Node.js.
• Optimize P2P and network protocols for performance and low latency.
• Develop custom binary protocols and serialization formats.
• Build secure communication using cryptographic primitives.
• Profile and optimize networked systems operating across unreliable networks.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of P2P protocols, including Kademlia, BitTorrent, libp2p, and hypercore.
• Advanced JavaScript skills and experience with Node.js networking.
• Deep understanding of UDP, TCP/IP, and NAT traversal techniques.
• Experience implementing binary protocols and serialization formats.
• Familiarity with cryptographic primitives for secure P2P communication.
• Excellent English communication skills required.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of experience building production P2P or distributed systems.
• Knowledge of V8 internals, libuv, asynchronous I/O in C, and Node.js native addons.
• Contributions to open-source P2P projects or networking libraries.
