TL;DR
Senior Electrical Engineer I (Spacecraft Avionics): Developing and testing avionics hardware for spacecraft programs across requirements definition, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, verification, integration, and production with an accent on analog electronics, circuit analysis, and reliable PCBA design. Focus on designing spacecraft electrical systems, solving power, tolerance, and reliability challenges, and validating hardware through system integration testing.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States

Base salary: $130,000–$170,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Develop PCBA requirements in collaboration with engineers from other disciplines.
  • Create schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
  • Perform power, tolerance, and reliability circuit analyses.
  • Conduct PCBA design verification and system integration testing.
  • Support production manufacturing as needed.
  • Participate in spacecraft electrical hardware development from requirements through design, fabrication, testing, and production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or another engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of electrical hardware design experience, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Strong background in analog electronics design.
  • Proficiency with circuit analysis using SPICE and Excel.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in electrical or computer engineering or another engineering discipline.
  • Experience with electronic laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, signal generators, and soldering irons.
  • Experience designing for space environments, radiation effects, and high-reliability aerospace applications.
  • Experience with rigid-flex PCBs, electromechanical design, FPGA design, or embedded software development for ARM processors.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
