Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Toronto, Canada

Salary: CAD 70,000–88,000 base salary per year

What you will do

• Design, write, refactor, and extend software services for complex insurance products.
• Build secure, reliable, and scalable cloud services and microservices.
• Design and implement REST- or gRPC-based APIs.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot while maintaining engineering standards.
• Develop thorough tests and support observability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate in a small, cross-functional, agile team.

Requirements

• 0–2+ years of software development experience, preferably with SaaS or cloud solutions.
• Proficiency in Core Java and working knowledge of Spring.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, plus Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with relational database persistence and REST or gRPC APIs.
• Understanding of object-oriented design, testing, CI/CD, DevOps principles, and AI-assisted development.

Nice to have

• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or CouchDB.
• Experience with LLMs, LangChain, RAG, ReAct, prompt engineering, or production AI service integrations.
• Experience with TeamCity, Git-based workflows, or Kubernetes.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
