Employment Counsel

Location: Costa Mesa, United States; hybrid work with 1 day per week required at hirify.global's North America Headquarters in Costa Mesa, California.

Base salary: $157,667–$283,801 per year, plus eligibility for variable pay.

What you will do

• Advise HR, Employee Relations, and business leaders on employee relations and employment law matters, including accommodations, leaves, performance management, separations, workplace conduct, and organizational change.
• Support the full employment lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, job classification, background checks, contingent workforce matters, performance issues, and separation documentation.
• Lead or oversee complex workplace investigations, including strategy, documentation, findings, remediation, and defensible record-building.
• Manage employment claims, agency charges, demand letters, mediations, audits, and litigation in coordination with outside counsel.
• Draft and update employment policies, handbooks, templates, communications, and manager guidance while monitoring North American legal and regulatory developments.
• Deliver training and create tools, procedures, and practical guidance that strengthen HR and manager capability and improve legal service delivery.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership; California bar membership is preferred.
• At least 7 years of employment law experience, combining law firm and in-house work or advising complex, multi-state employers.
• Experience in employment litigation, agency charges, workplace investigations, compliance audits, policy development, and practical risk management.
• Experience advising on employee relations, performance management, leaves, accommodations, terminations, employment claims, and high-risk workplace matters.
• Experience supporting large, matrixed, multinational, or high-growth organizations.
• North America or broader Americas employment experience, including Canada, Costa Rica, and Chile, is preferred.
