Company

hirify.global Atomics develops factory-fabricated advanced microreactors to deliver scalable, reliable, and affordable nuclear power.

What you will do

  • Develop structural design bases, load combinations, code applicability, and design criteria for reactor buildings and supporting structures.
  • Perform seismic design and qualification using DOE-STD-1020, ASCE 4, and ASCE 43, including response spectrum and time-history analysis.
  • Prepare and review structural calculation packages, stress reports, and design drawings suitable for DOE safety-basis or NRC licensing review.
  • Perform finite element analyses for reinforced concrete, structural steel, and steel-plate composite elements using ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000, or equivalent tools.
  • Develop structural inputs for modular and factory-built configurations, including transportation, handling, lifting, rigging, and field-joint design.
  • Coordinate with geotechnical and civil consultants and review vendor deliverables, weld procedures, NDE plans, and technical questions from EPC and manufacturing partners.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering; MS or PhD preferred.
  • 8+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably including 4 years in nuclear or other safety-critical facilities.
  • Experience owning structural calculation packages that passed independent design verification or regulatory review.
  • Working knowledge of ASCE 7, ACI 318/349, AISC 360/N690, and ASCE 4/43.
  • Proficiency with at least one major finite element analysis package and strong hand-calculation skills for validating results.
  • Licensed PE or actively pursuing licensure in a U.S. jurisdiction; U.S. citizenship or U.S. person status is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with precast concrete, steel-plate composite modular construction, or transportable nuclear systems.
  • Knowledge of sodium-cooled reactor structural considerations, including thermal cycling, sodium spill and fire load cases, and secondary containment response.
  • Experience with site-specific seismic hazard studies, NQA-1 quality requirements, or configuration management tools such as Jama Connect and Teamcenter.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced environment with design, analysis, and documentation progressing in parallel.
  • Emphasis on ownership, solving difficult technical problems, urgency, quality, and execution.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off.
  • Corporate gym membership and opportunities for professional growth.
