Patient Access Specialist FT

Location: Winchester, VA; candidates must work onsite at the hospital

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Perform admitting and patient access duties for hospital services while following organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, complete compliance and medical necessity checks, collect insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Pre-register patients, obtain demographic and insurance details, explain financial liabilities, and collect point-of-service and past-due balances.
• Review insurance eligibility and benefits, select plan codes, and enter data to support collections and clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient forms; obtain signatures and document distribution.
• Operate the telephone switchboard, provide compassionate customer service, and audit accounts for accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Inquisitive mindset and openness to innovation, including AI, to improve patient and client experiences.
• CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire; certification is company paid.
• Onsite presence at the hospital in Winchester, Virginia is required.
