TL;DR
Staff Engineer, Tool Design (Aerospace): Designing and delivering production tooling for complex aerospace systems, from concept and analysis through fabrication and prove-out, with an accent on assembly fixtures, composites tooling, GD&T, and manufacturing quality. Focus on validating stiffness and safety through FEA, leading cross-functional design reviews, and supporting first-article dimensional validation in rate-production environments.

Location: Dallas, Texas; on-site

Salary: $120,000–$190,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

Company

hirify.global is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing intelligent systems, including autonomy software, aircraft, and simulation technologies.

What you will do

  • Own production tooling throughout the lifecycle, including concept development, design, analysis, release, fabrication, and prove-out.
  • Translate GD&T, key characteristics, and critical-to-quality requirements into datums, locators, clamps, tolerances, ergonomic controls, and ESD/FOD measures.
  • Design assembly jigs, drill and bond fixtures, composite molds and trim fixtures, gauges, lifting carts, and protective tooling using CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks.
  • Perform FEA and hand calculations for stiffness, clamp loads, safety factors, and ergonomics.
  • Prepare tool design packages with models, drawings, GD&T, bills of materials, materials, finishes, lifting points, and safety labeling.
  • Lead design reviews and support fabrication, nonconformance and engineering-change resolution, shop-floor prove-out, and first-article dimensional validation.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in tooling design, mechanical design, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience with prototype manufacturing in a startup or rapid-growth environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining, composites, avionics, and/or assembly processes.
  • Experience with CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, 3DEXPERIENCE or Teamcenter, FEA tools, GD&T, and metrology fundamentals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing or automation systems.
  • Project management experience with multiple priorities and deadlines.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time regular employee package includes salary within the listed range, bonus, benefits, and equity.
  • Work is performed on-site in Dallas, Texas.
  • Offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check.
  • Military fellows and part-time employees are not eligible for benefits.
  • AI tools may support parts of the hiring process, while final decisions remain with human reviewers.
