Vascular/CVTS Coding Specialist (Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery)

Location: Full-time onsite role at Ardent – Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States

Salary: $29.75–$32.70 per hour based on experience; $3,000 sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Code physician claims directly from medical records and operative reports according to coding guidelines.
• Complete assigned work queues accurately and on time while meeting quality and productivity targets.
• Track charge review and follow-up trends, research denied claims, and support resolution of coding issues.
• Provide coding and compliance education to physicians, management, peers, and other coders.
• Monitor payer guidelines, Correct Coding Initiative edits, and Local and National Coverage Determinations.
• Participate in coding meetings, training, committees, and occasional travel for education sessions or CME events.

Requirements

• 3+ years of coding experience with extensive physician coding expertise in cardiovascular thoracic surgery and/or vascular surgery.
• At least one current professional certification is required: CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT. CPC is preferred, with CCVTC and/or CIRCC preferred as an addition.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Experience with EPIC, coding software tools, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong organization, communication, time management, troubleshooting, problem-solving, prioritization, and multitasking skills.

Nice to have

• CCVTC and/or CIRCC certification in addition to CPC.
• Openness to using AI and other innovations to improve coding processes and patient and client experiences.
