RCS Medical Coding Auditor (CPC, CPMA)

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina. Applicants for North American positions must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada.

What you will do

• Perform daily quality assurance audits of completed professional fee coding and provide targeted feedback and education.
• Validate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and modifier assignments against clinical documentation and AMA CPT, CMS, NCCI, and payer-specific guidelines.
• Conduct medical chart audits across multiple specialties and identify discrepancies, compliance risks, trends, root causes, and documentation gaps.
• Prepare clear, defensible audit documentation with supporting rationale and references.
• Recommend actions to reduce future coding risk and support denial prevention, resolution, and appeals.
• Track audit outcomes and collaborate across teams on coding support and leadership reporting.

Requirements

• CPC certification required; CPMA certification required or in process.
• At least 2 years of professional fee auditing experience.
• Knowledge of E/M documentation guidelines, modifier rules, NCCI edits, CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and critical-thinking skills, and written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency with EHRs, coding and auditing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States or Canada is required; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Nice to have

• Multi-specialty coding and auditing experience, particularly in E/M coding, orthopedics, pain management, or urology.
• Experience with coding quality programs or compliance teams.
• Advanced audit tracking and trend analysis reporting skills.
• Consulting or client-facing audit experience.
