Principal Engineer, IC Systems Architect

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Salary: $140,000–$165,000 per year

What you will do

• Assess system-level requirements for target applications and map them to integrated-circuit functional blocks.
• Support initial feasibility analysis and fabrication process selection.
• Define circuit-level architectures and track implementation against application requirements.
• Work with analog, digital, and firmware design engineers to optimize power, performance, and cost tradeoffs.
• Perform preliminary circuit-level feasibility analysis for critical elements and detailed modelling of ICs and external components.
• Develop algorithms for on-chip calibration and signal conditioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as electrical engineering.
• At least 10 years of direct industry experience in IC development for high-speed communications systems.
• High-speed analog and mixed-signal circuit design experience.
• Thorough understanding of linear and non-linear channel simulation techniques.
• Deep understanding of signal equalization techniques and clock-and-data recovery for wideband, multi-gigabit systems.
