Mechanical Engineer II (Propulsion Test): Designing, building, operating, and integrating test stands and test articles for the Terran R launch vehicle with an accent on fluid systems, structural and mechanical systems, and high-energy propulsion testing. Focus on bringing test stands into operation, conducting flight acceptance and qualification campaigns, managing non-conformances, and improving procedures and hardware flow.
Location: On-site at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, United States. The role may require up to 10% travel to production and launch locations. A background check administered by the US government is required for on-site work at the government partner location.
Salary: $104,000–$156,000 USD annually, plus equity.

What you will do
- Design, build, activate, operate, and maintain test stands for high-energy components, rocket engines, and booster and upper stages.
- Develop gas, liquid, and cryogenic fluid systems, including P&IDs, analysis, component selection, and fabrication instructions.
- Design structural and mechanical systems using 3D modeling, analysis, and fabrication drawings.
- Conduct flight acceptance, qualification, and development testing while monitoring test stands, telemetry, cameras, GUIs, and automation.
- Prepare and manage test articles through inspections, functional and leak checks, post-test processing, repairs, and non-conformance resolution.
- Improve procedures, control automation, data review, work instructions, standardization, and hardware flow across test sites.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to safely operate common power tools and hold a valid driver’s license for vehicles used on the test site.
- Ability to deliver on tight schedules using unconventional and creative technical solutions.
- Willingness to work a scheduled morning or evening shift for Operations or Integration assignments.
- Ability to clear a US government-administered background check for on-site work at the Stennis government partner location.
Nice to have
- 3D modeling and drafting proficiency, including GD&T.
- Engineering fundamentals in thermal fluid systems and structures.
- Hands-on fabrication experience with complex assemblies.
- Experience with fluid components, large-scale fluid P&IDs, high-pressure gas, cryogenic fluids, flammables, or hydraulics.
- Technical writing or documentation experience.
