What you will do
- Solve structural static and dynamic problems using hand calculations, finite element analysis, and test data.
- Define external loads from flight maneuvers, gusts, takeoff, and landing for structural design and analysis.
- Generate vehicle finite element models for static and dynamic load cases.
- Characterize aeroelastic effects, including flutter.
- Define random vibration environments caused by buffet and engine dynamics.
- Collaborate with aerodynamics and structures teams and validate analyses through testing and flight.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 1+ years of job or project experience in loads and dynamics analysis, ideally in aerospace or a similar high-performance engineering field.
- Strong understanding of engineering first principles, flight mechanics, aerodynamics, and structural analysis.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Must be a U.S. person under U.S. export control regulations or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
- Ability to travel on short notice.
Nice to have
- Experience with NASTRAN or similar finite element analysis software.
- Experience with CFD and multidisciplinary optimization tools.
- Analytical programming and data processing experience, preferably with Python.
- Experience with supersonic or hypersonic flight, high-temperature materials, shock-wave dynamics, and thermal loads.
- Experience with structural dynamics, vibration analysis, and high-speed aerospace vehicles.
