Senior Mission Design Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $120,000–$180,000 per year, plus potential stock options and benefits for full-time hires.

What you will do

• Design and optimize in-space servicing mission concepts against customer objectives and requirements.
• Build tools to analyze, interpret, and visualize mission design results.
• Develop written proposals and collaborate with Business Development on customer solutions.
• Engage directly with customers to capture requirements and gather feedback.
• Advance spacecraft simulation and trajectory optimization tools with Engineering.
• Perform CONOPS development, maneuver planning, requirements verification, CAD fit checks, propellant and power budgeting, and link budget analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of orbital mechanics and spacecraft operations.
• Functional understanding of spacecraft systems and payload accommodations.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and professionally.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a technical field.
• Active TS/SCI clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Customer-facing experience and experience operating spacecraft in orbit.
• Spacecraft assembly, payload integration, CAD, physics simulation, or orbital simulation experience.
• Broad space-industry knowledge and startup experience.
