TL;DR
Staff Electrical Engineer - Sensor FPGA and PCB (Aggregator) (Robotics, FPGA, PCB): Architecting and taking Apollo's sensor bridge electronics from requirements and schematic capture through RTL development, validation, and production release with an accent on high-speed mixed-signal design, camera interfaces, and FPGA-based sensor aggregation. Focus on designing CSI-2, SerDes, and Ethernet data paths, solving timing and synchronization challenges, and debugging hardware and RTL across the board boundary.

Location: Austin, TX, United States. Travel up to 10% within the US and internationally.

Company

hirify.global develops AI-powered humanoid robots, including Apollo, for manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, home, and other applications.

What you will do

  • Own the sensor bridge electronics and FPGA stack from requirements and architecture through prototype, validation, manufacturing release, and production scaling.
  • Design multi-Gbps mixed-signal PCBAs that aggregate camera sensor data and human-robot interface functions.
  • Develop FPGA architecture and VHDL/Verilog RTL for CSI-2 ingestion, Ethernet packetization, timestamping, metadata insertion, and multi-camera and multi-IMU synchronization.
  • Design high-speed interfaces, power trees, signal-integrity solutions, and compliance features for EMC, ESD, thermal, impedance, and length-matching requirements.
  • Lead board and FPGA bring-up, validation, lab testing, timing closure, link debugging, and first-principles root-cause analysis.
  • Coordinate component lifecycle management, vendors, contract manufacturers, DFM/DFA, documentation, and cross-functional technical execution while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of electrical engineering experience and a bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Deep FPGA hardware design experience, including device selection, architecture definition, RTL development in VHDL and/or Verilog, timing closure, clock-domain crossing, and resource optimization.
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces and transceivers such as MIPI CSI-2, GMSL/SerDes, Ethernet, PCIe, or comparable technologies.
  • Strong high-speed digital design fundamentals, including signal integrity, impedance-controlled routing, differential pairs, stack-up, and timing analysis.
  • Experience with camera or image-sensor hardware, ISP integration, Ethernet-based sensor streaming, and sensor bridges.
  • Hands-on prototyping, validation, and hardware debugging experience using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, and similar lab equipment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with automotive or robotics vision systems.
  • Experience with Vivado, Quartus, or Lattice Radiant and ModelSim, Questa, or equivalent simulation tools.

Culture & Benefits

  • Direct-hire employment.
  • Fast-paced, high-growth environment focused on bringing humanoid robots to market at scale.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with software, mechanical, thermal, systems, manufacturing, project management, and product teams.
  • Opportunity to lead technical initiatives through influence and mentor electrical engineers.
  • Work includes development of products addressing safety, commercialization, and mass-production challenges.
