Staff Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing (Aerospace): Building and scaling manufacturing systems for a next-generation jet production line with an accent on process definition, capital equipment deployment, production infrastructure, and cross-functional factory execution. Location: Dallas, Texas, United States; on-site

Salary: $120,000–$190,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

What you will do

  • Own critical manufacturing processes across multiple aircraft programs and define Bills of Process, manufacturing sequences, MBOM mappings, tooling needs, and process controls.
  • Build production infrastructure for a new next-generation jet line, including capital equipment, hardware, software tools, workstations, ESD controls, and point-of-use materials.
  • Create operator-ready work instructions with torque specifications, PPE requirements, inspection points, and MES revision control.
  • Conduct time studies, calculate takt and cycle time, identify bottlenecks, and lead lean and kaizen improvements.
  • Establish standardized work, visual controls, layered audits, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and error-proofing in partnership with operators and Quality.
  • Implement engineering change orders, validate process updates, maintain documentation, and mentor other engineers across engineering, supply chain, and production.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production systems, process development, or assembly engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or a related STEM field.
  • Experience with prototype manufacturing in a startup or rapid-growth environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining, composites, avionics, and/or assembly processes.
  • Experience with MES/QMS systems, torque analyzers, Minitab or Excel for SPC, capability analysis, and DOE, plus lean/5S, PFMEA, Control Plans, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Proficiency with CAD software.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing or automation systems.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and tooling design.
  • Project management experience involving multiple priorities and deadlines.
