TL;DR
Spacecraft Integration Specialist (Avionics) (Aerospace): Integrating and testing spacecraft avionics systems, flight hardware, and spacecraft test assets with an accent on functional, interface, environmental, and system-level verification. Focus on operating and maintaining EGSE, diagnosing hardware and software anomalies, supporting qualification and acceptance testing, and preparing spacecraft for launch readiness.

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop, execute, and document avionics test procedures for spacecraft and subsystems.
  • Perform functional, interface, system-level, and environmental testing of flight and flight-like hardware.
  • Support integration of avionics components, payloads, sensors, cables, and harnesses.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain EGSE, spacecraft control racks, RF control racks, and electrical measurement equipment.
  • Diagnose hardware, software, and system-level anomalies while collaborating with avionics, software, automation, controls, and integration teams.
  • Prepare test reports, discrepancy reports, qualification and acceptance documentation, and support test readiness reviews and configuration control.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience in avionics testing, spacecraft testing, or related aerospace systems.
  • Hands-on experience with spacecraft or high-reliability avionics hardware and associated EGSE test systems.
  • Strong understanding of digital and analog electronics, electrical test equipment, schematics, wiring diagrams, and interface control documents.
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable ITAR and EAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with spacecraft flight hardware, mission-critical systems, spacecraft avionics architectures, and data buses such as SpaceWire, CAN, RS-422/485, or MIL-STD-1553.
  • Experience with automated test systems and scripting using Python or LabVIEW.
  • Exposure to TVAC, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing, spacecraft software loading, launch-site or on-orbit operations, and aerospace quality standards.
  • Experience in cleanroom environments and mechanical or propulsion integration activities.
