Senior Software Engineer, Substrate (Kubernetes)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $145,000–$200,000 per year, plus potential restricted stock units, sign-on bonus, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Design and build managed Kubernetes product offerings for on-premises environments, cloud hyperscalers, and edge devices.
• Deliver container runtimes for new cloud, hardware, and air-gapped environments.
• Build automation and establish standards for secure Kubernetes operations at scale with zero manual steps.
• Adopt new Kubernetes features and CNCF tools, contributing improvements upstream when needed.
• Design infrastructure systems that provide scale, stability, security, observability, and self-healing capabilities.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software development experience focused on core infrastructure and operational excellence.
• 2+ years contributing to system design or architecture, including reliability and scaling.
• Strong systems programming experience with Go, C/C++, or equivalent.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Kubernetes operators.
• Familiarity with hardware and operating-system configuration, diagnostic tooling, networking, cloud infrastructure, or data-center SRE/sysadmin work.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
