Principal Cloud Kubernetes Engineer

Location: Boston, MA, United States

Base compensation: $140,000–$206,000 USD per year, plus a discretionary annual variable target incentive.

What you will do

• Define the Kubernetes platform roadmap, cloud-native strategy, reference architectures, and engineering standards.
• Architect and operate enterprise Kubernetes platforms across AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises environments.
• Lead Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, Terraform, Helm, operators, controllers, and self-service provisioning initiatives.
• Design multi-cluster, multi-region, multi-tenant, resilient, and disaster-recovery-ready platforms.
• Establish observability, reliability, SLI/SLO, error-budget, incident-analysis, and chaos-engineering practices.
• Lead Kubernetes security, policy-as-code, identity, secrets management, and software supply-chain security programs.

Requirements

• 12+ years of infrastructure, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on production Kubernetes experience, including enterprise-scale platform design and operations.
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, plus expert Terraform and Infrastructure as Code capabilities.
• Advanced GitOps experience with tools such as Argo CD, Flux, or Fleet.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals, networking, CNI, eBPF, service meshes, storage, and security.
• Strong programming experience with Go, Python, or similar languages, and experience building platform automation, operators, or controllers.

Nice to have

• Experience with Rancher, Spectro Cloud Palette, Crossplane, Backstage, or Internal Developer Platforms.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, software supply-chain security, and regulated environments.
• CKA, CKS, CKAD, cloud DevOps or architecture certifications, Terraform Associate, or CNCF certifications.
