Consultant, Compliance

Location: Toronto, ON; hybrid work arrangement with 1–3 days per week on-site and the remaining days remote

What you will do

• Execute thorough and timely wealth compliance examinations across asset management, investment dealer, and mutual fund dealer activities.
• Assess the design adequacy and operating effectiveness of processes and controls mitigating regulatory and operational risk.
• Support remediation and validation of deficiencies by reviewing action plans and assessing whether issues have been effectively addressed.
• Monitor developments in Canadian Securities Administrators instruments and CIRO rules and provide regulatory guidance.
• Communicate examination observations and compliance findings with Compliance, Legal, Risk Management, Portfolio Management, Trading, Product, Marketing, Reporting, and Operations partners.
• Contribute knowledge and process improvements to strengthen the Compliance Examinations Program.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in a related field.
• Experience in wealth compliance, compliance testing, examination, audit, or a related oversight function.
• Completed Canadian Securities Course and Conduct and Practices Handbook Course through the Canadian Securities Institute.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to investigate complex problems, interpret information, communicate detailed findings, and recommend practical solutions.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada at the specified location; a valid work or study permit may be required.

Nice to have

• Progress toward the CFA, FRM, or CIA designation.
• Experience identifying issues and applying strategic thinking to recommend value-added solutions.
