Structures Engineer, Rotating Turbomachinery

Location: Torrance, California. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Salary: $140,000–$215,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Analyze turbomachinery components for structural margin and service life.
• Quantify deflection and dimensional growth of rotating components during operation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering partners to define required clearances.
• Help establish manufacturable, high-efficiency, and robust designs for power-generation turbomachinery.
• Influence system architecture and design decisions as an early member of the turbomachinery team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience conducting structural analysis of rotating components.
• Experience with commercial FEA tools such as Ansys, Nastran, or Abaqus.
• Experience with high-speed rotating equipment, including gas turbines, steam turbines, blowers, turboexpanders, or turbopumps.
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status is required for work authorization.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience selecting creep-resistant alloys.
• Knowledge of casting or forging processes.
• Experience with supercritical CO2.
