What you will do

  • Lead structural and stress analyses for reactor components and systems, including stress, fatigue, creep, seismic, and coupled thermal-fluid-structural behavior.
  • Develop and validate FEA and CFD models to support reactor design, performance, and safety decisions.
  • Conduct ASME Section III mechanical design and pressure-boundary analyses.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and licensing teams to optimize performance, safety, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Support test planning, data analysis, design verification, and verification and validation activities.
  • Document analytical results for regulatory and licensing submissions, mentor junior engineers, and help establish internal analysis standards.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Structural, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in structural and thermal analysis of complex systems, such as nuclear or aerospace systems.
  • Expertise with FEA tools including ANSYS, Nastran, or Abaqus.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Section III and related nuclear design codes.
  • Understanding of material behavior in high-temperature and radiation environments.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, including experience mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

  • Experience with sodium-cooled or advanced reactor systems.
  • Familiarity with CFD tools such as Fluent or STAR-CCM+.
  • Familiarity with NRC licensing processes and QA/QC standards.
  • Experience with modular manufacturing or pressure-boundary component design.
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX, Simcenter 3D, or similar integrated modeling environments.
