Senior Vehicle Certification Engineer (Aerospace): Developing certification processes and systems for spacecraft and launch vehicles with an accent on customer requirements, verification activities, and mission readiness. Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $140,000–$195,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop systems for documenting customer interactions, feedback, approvals, and acceptance.
  • Build and optimize engineering process flows for customer deliverables.
  • Analyze government and commercial customer requirements and standards for compatibility with vehicle product lines.
  • Perform verification analyses and lead or participate in customer-supported tests and demonstrations.
  • Explain vehicle design and functionality to customers and independently answer technical questions.
  • Improve engineering, manufacturing, and management systems while supporting launch and mission operations as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
  • 5+ years of experience in an aerospace field.
  • Direct experience with the design, manufacturing, analysis, and testing of liquid propulsion systems, launch systems, or spacecraft.
  • Knowledge of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials.
  • Experience with primary, pressurized, welded, thermal-insulated, and secondary vehicle structures.
  • Ability to take project ownership and work collaboratively.

Nice to have

  • Experience as a Responsible Engineer for a vehicle or subassembly across the full hardware development lifecycle.
  • Experience with requirements development and verification, engineering design, hardware production, testing, evaluation, and test documentation.
  • Experience with NASA or USSF spacecraft and launch vehicle certification or engineering standards.
  • Background in design engineering, mission management, production and test, launch and mission operations, flight testing, systems integration, or project management.
  • Excellent communication skills and a focus on customer satisfaction.
