Specialized Coder (Cardiology, Vascular and CVTS)

Location: Onsite at Tower – Reading Hospital in West Reading, Pennsylvania

Salary: $29.75–$32.70 per hour based on experience; $3,000 sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Code physician claims directly from medical records and operative reports according to applicable coding guidelines.
• Review charges, complete assigned work queues, and correct coding edits accurately and on time.
• Track coding trends, research denied claims, and support leadership in resolving recurring issues.
• Provide coding education to providers and assist with developing educational tools.
• Stay current on payer guidelines, Correct Coding Initiative edits, and Local and National Coverage Determinations.
• Mentor and train other coders while communicating with physicians, management, and peers.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of coding experience, including extensive physician coding experience.
• Expertise in Cardiology, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, or Vascular Surgery coding.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Experience with EPIC and coding software tools, plus working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong organization, communication, time management, troubleshooting, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• High school diploma or GED and at least one current certification: CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT. CPC is preferred, with CCVTC and/or CIRCC as additional preferred certifications.

Nice to have

• CCVTC and/or CIRCC certification in addition to CPC.
