TL;DR
Sr Analysis Mechanical Engineer (Thermal, Structural) (Aerospace): Developing and validating thermal and structural analyses for advanced aerospace systems and hardware with an accent on finite element modeling, load-path development, structural sizing, and thermal network analysis. Focus on building analysis tools, evaluating metallic and composite structures, conducting fatigue and fracture assessments, and correlating models with ground-test, flight, and orbital performance data.

Location: Gardena, California, United States. ITAR eligibility is required: U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Company

hirify.global is a stealth-mode aerospace and defense startup developing advanced aerospace systems and hardware.

What you will do

  • Lead structural analyses of primary and secondary structures using finite element modeling and manual calculations.
  • Establish structural load paths and perform preliminary sizing for metallic and composite structures.
  • Develop structural analysis tools and guidelines, secure stakeholder support, and train engineers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams across conceptual design, CAD development, analysis, testing, validation, and operational assessment.
  • Execute thermal analyses from high-level studies through validation with ground tests, flight data, and orbital performance metrics.
  • Review engineering models, analyses, and test procedures while improving performance, robustness, and documentation quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with an analysis concentration.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in thermal or fluid analysis.
  • Strong understanding of spacecraft and/or launch vehicle systems and proficiency with thermal network analysis.
  • Experience with ANSYS Workbench and finite element analysis solvers such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, or Nastran.
  • Knowledge of nonlinear analysis, welded-structure stress analysis, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and crack-growth analysis.
  • Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements and be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or physics.
  • Experience with primary-structure analysis and pre- and post-processing tools such as ABAQUS/CAE, ANSA/META, ANSYS, or FEMAP.
  • Experience with nCode, NASGRO, or equivalent fatigue and crack-growth analysis tools.
  • Scripting experience with Python, VBA, or MATLAB.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced aerospace and defense development environment with aggressive timelines.
  • Cross-functional collaboration across engineering, design, analysis, and testing.
  • Opportunities to improve company-wide analysis methods, tools, and operational efficiency.
