Company

hirify.global is a Series B startup developing mass-producible, inherently safe microreactors for terrestrial, underwater, and space applications.

What you will do

  • Serve as the Responsible Engineer for the Reactor Cavity Cooling System (RCCS).
  • Perform thermal-fluid, mechanical, and structural analyses for piping, ducts, stacks, supports, filtration equipment, and reactor cavity structures.
  • Define system architecture, operating limits, design margins, and control strategies.
  • Develop engineering calculations, system specifications, interface definitions, design reports, and technical justifications for licensing and design reviews.
  • Design and support component- and system-level testing, including test articles, instrumentation plans, test stands, and validation procedures.
  • Coordinate with reactor systems, structures, licensing, manufacturing, procurement, suppliers, and operations through design, testing, and deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear Engineering, or a related discipline focused on thermal-fluid sciences and heat transfer.
  • 5+ years of professional experience designing, analyzing, or developing thermal-fluid, HVAC, heat-transfer, or cooling systems.
  • Experience with thermal, fluid-flow, and structural engineering calculations.
  • Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary engineering teams and communicate technical concepts to varied stakeholders.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends when necessary for critical milestones.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain required U.S. government authorizations under export regulations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience with natural circulation, buoyancy-driven, or convective heat-transfer systems and CFD or multiphysics simulation.
  • Expertise in HVAC or industrial ventilation, including equipment selection, ducting, filtration, airflow management, and performance testing.
  • Proficiency with ANSYS, COMSOL Multiphysics, FEA, or CFD tools.
  • Knowledge of materials, thermal stresses, creep, corrosion, environmental degradation, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, or ASME B31 piping codes.

Culture & Benefits

  • Significant stock option package in addition to salary.
  • Work in a new 322,000-square-foot facility supporting collaboration, R&D, and production.
  • Values include systems thinking, end-user focus, unconventional problem-solving, in-person collaboration, and operating through ambiguity.
  • Opportunities to support customers, users, and stakeholders directly throughout the product lifecycle.
