Senior AOCS Systems Engineer (Spacecraft)

Location: Hybrid in Harwell, UK; Athens, Greece; Barcelona, Spain; or Porto, Portugal. Candidates must have the legal right to work in their chosen location.

What you will do

• Lead the delivery of robust AOCS solutions across multiple satellite missions, ensuring technical performance, reliability, and timely delivery.
• Own AOCS subsystem architecture, including requirements, FMECA, FDIR strategies, and CONOPS development.
• Model, simulate, and analyse AOCS concepts, algorithms, sensor suites, and actuator configurations.
• Develop and maintain simulation environments, analysis tools, and test equipment.
• Plan and conduct laboratory, hardware-in-the-loop, and software validation tests; interpret results and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain the AOCS technology roadmap, support bids and pre-sales, and advise mission teams, operations, customers, suppliers, and partners.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing, analysing, and testing AOCS subsystems, including sensors, actuators, algorithms, or control software.
• Hands-on familiarity with high-end AOCS solutions for Earth observation or telecommunications missions.
• Strong proficiency with MATLAB, Simulink, and simulation model development.
• Understanding of hardware/software interfaces, electronics, or embedded systems relevant to AOCS.
• Experience with laboratory validation, test automation, or iterative prototyping, plus working knowledge of FMECA, FDIR, and CONOPS.
• English is required for the application, and legal right to work in the selected location is mandatory.
