Optical Applications Engineer

What you will do

• Design hardware for complex integrated transceiver products supporting data rates above 10Gbps.
• Capture schematic intent and design high-speed PCBs while simulating signal integrity issues.
• Perform testing, fault finding, debugging, and resolution of internal and customer issues.
• Provide direct technical customer support with the Sales and field applications teams to support product design-ins.
• Create and maintain application notes, application kits, and other project documentation.
• Collaborate with Product Marketing, Sales, and Design Engineering during customer support and product development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, optical communication, or a related field.
• More than 5 years of experience with optical module products.
• Knowledge of analogue, digital, and MCU circuit design, as well as high-speed PCB design tools.
• Experience solving signal integrity issues in high-speed data-transfer systems.
• Experience using communication analysers, bit error rate testers, optical laser sources and attenuators, and high-speed real-time scopes.
• Good command of English in speaking, reading, and writing is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of SFF-8472, SFF-8636, and CMIS diagnostic monitoring specifications.
• 400G/800G/1.6T DSP optical module R&D experience.
• Knowledge of PON product-system protocol standards.
• Python scripting for automated testing.
