Electrical Engineer (Audio)

Location: Daily onsite work at the hirify.global Shanghai office in Minhang District, China; travel to contract manufacturing production lines approximately once a month, depending on the project schedule.

What you will do

• Design, test, implement, and support electrical hardware for product redesign, refresh, and cost-reduction projects.
• Perform sustaining engineering activities, including failure analysis, component qualification, and performance improvements.
• Participate in multidisciplinary project teams, design reviews, and product development improvements.
• Collaborate with Quality, Customer Support, and Compliance Engineering to assess user experience, design changes, regulations, and international standards.
• Drive improvements in engineering processes and best practices.
• Travel to JDM partners and suppliers to support product builds, testing, debugging, and technical problem resolution.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of PCBA-level hardware design and development or electrical engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in consumer electronics product development.
• Strong experience with analog signal chains, audio signals, and Class-D amplifier design.
• Experience with audio precision testing, amplifier circuitry analysis, troubleshooting, and EMC/compliance testing.
• Experience with schematic entry and PCB layout tools, including high-speed bus routing.
• Ability to learn new technical skills quickly and apply them to solve engineering problems.
• Proficient written and verbal English; daily presence at the Shanghai office and regular travel to manufacturing sites are required.

Nice to have

• At least 5 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree or 7 years with a Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience in consumer electronics, radio systems, power amplifiers, and audio amplifier development.
• Knowledge of safety, EMC/EMI, and radio certification, including EMC debugging and troubleshooting.
• Product development and operations engineering experience, including cost-reduction projects.
• Leadership experience managing JDM engineers and running JDM projects.
