Electrical Engineer (Audio)

Location: Shanghai, China; daily onsite work in the hirify.global Shanghai office in Minhang district, with travel to contract manufacturing production lines approximately once a month depending on the project schedule.

What you will do

• Design, test, implement, and support product redesign, refresh, and cost-reduction projects for electrical hardware.
• Perform sustaining engineering activities including failure analysis, component qualification, and performance improvements.
• Participate in multidisciplinary project teams, design reviews, and design-change initiatives.
• Partner with Product Development, Quality, Customer Support, and Compliance Engineering to address user experience, design-change, regulatory, and international-standard requirements.
• Provide lessons-learned feedback and drive continuous improvements in engineering processes and best practices.
• Travel to JDM partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturing production lines to support builds, testing, debugging, and technical problem resolution.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of PCBA-level hardware design/development and electrical engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree, preferably in consumer electronics product development.
• Significant experience with analog signal chains, audio signals, and Class-D amplifier design.
• Experience with audio precision testing, troubleshooting, and amplifier circuitry.
• Experience with EMC and compliance testing and troubleshooting.
• Experience with schematic-entry and PCB-layout tools, including PCB routing technology for high-speed buses.
• Ability to take on new technical challenges, learn new technical skills quickly, and apply that knowledge to solve technical issues.
• Proficient written and verbal English.
• Ability to work daily from the hirify.global Shanghai office in Minhang district.
• Ability to travel to contract manufacturing production lines to support builds, testing, and debugging.

Nice to have

• At least 5 years of PCBA-level hardware design/development and electrical engineering experience with a Master's degree, or 7 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Consumer electronics product and radio system development experience.
• Power and audio amplifier development experience.
• Understanding of compliance engineering, including Safety, EMC/EMI, or radio certification, with the ability to perform EMC debugging and troubleshooting.
• Combined product development and operations engineering experience, including cost-reduction projects.
• Leadership skills, including the ability to manage JDM engineers and run JDM projects.
