Senior Site Reliability Engineer, GovCloud (AWS)

Location: Hybrid near Tysons, Virginia, with 3 days per week onsite; candidates must reside in the U.S.

Annual base salary: $128,500–$190,000.

What you will do

• Build, operate, and improve highly available and secure AWS GovCloud infrastructure, including networking, IAM, Kubernetes, DNS, certificates, and shared platform services.
• Design end-to-end AWS networking with VPCs, subnetting, routing, security groups, NACLs, PrivateLink, Transit Gateway, load balancing, and DNS.
• Operate production PostgreSQL, covering high availability, replication, backups, recovery, performance optimization, upgrades, and capacity planning.
• Monitor production systems, respond to incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and improve reliability and observability.
• Maintain Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code and Kubernetes deployment workflows using Git, CI/CD, and GitOps practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and release management teams on safe deployments, compliance maintenance, documentation, and on-call support.

Requirements

• Must reside in the U.S. and hold U.S. Citizenship or a Green Card to meet AWS GovCloud compliance requirements.
• 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or related production infrastructure roles.
• Production experience with Kubernetes, AWS or another public cloud, Terraform or comparable IaC tools, Git, CI/CD, Linux, networking, DNS, and TLS/certificates.
• Production PostgreSQL experience, including replication, backups, recovery, and performance tuning.
• Python and/or Go experience for automation scripts, operational tooling, and infrastructure services.
• Experience with incident response, root-cause analysis, change management, on-call rotations, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with FedRAMP, AWS GovCloud, FIPS, vulnerability management, or other regulated cloud environments.
• Deep PostgreSQL operational expertise and familiarity with Redis and Kafka.
• Experience supporting federal agencies or public-sector customers.
• Experience with observability platforms, Jenkins, Argo CD, or GitHub Enterprise.
