Senior Site Reliability Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote within the USA for candidates residing in CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA; hybrid options are available at offices in Austin, Texas and Tampa, Florida. Hiring is not available within the city limits of Chicago.

Salary: $160,000–$220,000 per year for roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, or New York.

What you will do

• Diagnose and resolve complex application and infrastructure issues.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations, Scrum activities, and deployment planning.
• Perform root cause analysis and provide recommendations to application teams.
• Improve service availability and reduce customer impact through observability practices and tools.
• Influence secure, best-practice architecture and design decisions.
• Develop software, scripts, tooling, documentation, and standard operating procedures to improve delivery efficiency.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in DevOps and/or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Intermediate or higher Linux administration, scripting, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with observability tools such as New Relic, Splunk, or Datadog.
• Comprehensive AWS experience, including VPC, EC2, ECS, Route 53, Fargate, and ALB/NLB distributions.
• Experience with cloud automation and infrastructure as code, primarily CloudFormation, plus Terraform, Helm, and Ansible.
• Understanding of containers, Kubernetes, distributed microservice architectures, CI/CD, SDLC, automation, and security. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS CDK.
• Experience with hirify.global's technology stack, including Java, Kotlin, C++, Golang, or Postgres.
• Knowledge of large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design, and client-server architecture.
