Senior Software Engineer - Backend Services

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate high-throughput, low-latency backend services and APIs across distributed environments.
• Develop RESTful APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation and GraphQL services with robust schema design, versioning, pagination, and error handling.
• Architect event-driven systems using message queuing and streaming technologies with reliable delivery and graceful failure handling.
• Manage cloud-hosted environments across Vercel, AWS, or Azure, including Docker, Kubernetes, networking, autoscaling, and cost optimization.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, lead technical and code reviews, and improve system quality, maintainability, and technical debt.
• Collaborate with Product, resolve complex production incidents, contribute to postmortems, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or equivalent education and experience.
• 5–8 years of professional backend software development experience in an enterprise environment.
• Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript, Java, or Python, with meaningful production experience in at least one core language.
• Hands-on experience with message queuing and event streaming platforms.
• Experience delivering production-grade RESTful APIs and GraphQL services, plus unit, integration, and contract testing using JUnit, pytest, Jest, or equivalent.
• Ability to sit for most of an 8-hour workday, use hands and fingers, reach, talk, and hear; overnight travel may be required.

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including consistency models, partition tolerance, idempotency, backpressure, and observability.
• Experience shipping large, ambiguous projects with measurable business and technical impact.
