What you will do

• Estimate and complete development tasks including coding, requirements gathering, and analysis.
• Assess and diagnose issues in owned systems, prioritizing based on business alignment.
• Participate in on-call rotations, planning sessions, and architecture discussions.
• Mentor junior developers and support recruiting efforts.
• Present and write about your work internally and externally.
• Drive improvements in team engineering processes using influential skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of engineering experience (or equivalent relevant experience)
• Experience prototyping and deploying backend web applications with open-source languages (Ruby, Python) and frameworks (Django, Rails)
• Developing and consuming RESTful APIs, relational/non-relational databases, scalable search (ElasticSearch, Solr)
• Test-driven development, Git/GitHub version control, agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean)
• Handling large datasets, authoring documentation, communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Quickly learning new tools and understanding business impact
