TL;DR
Regulatory Engineer (Nuclear Fuel Recycling): Navigating NRC and EPA requirements while contributing to the engineering design of fuel recycling and fabrication facilities with an accent on licensing documentation, regulatory analysis, and technical reporting. Focus on interpreting regulatory precedents, interfacing with technical design teams, and solving complex licensing challenges in advanced fission and nuclear fuel recycling.

Location: Santa Clara, California, or remote within the United States. Remote employees must travel to the Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter based on business or team needs, and must work onsite for the first two weeks of onboarding.

Salary: $85,000–$175,000 annually.

hirify.global develops fast fission power plants, nuclear fuel recycling technologies, and a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. national laboratories.

What you will do

  • Research and interpret Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations, Environmental Protection Agency requirements, and regulatory precedents.
  • Generate, refine, and review licensing documentation for fuel recycling and fuel fabrication facilities.
  • Manage deliverables for internal and external regulatory activities.
  • Interface with technical staff and review engineering materials.
  • Analyze regulatory documents and identify key requirements and implications.
  • Contribute to technical reports for regulators and other external organizations while providing feedback to rapidly iterating design teams.

Requirements

  • Experience generating, contributing to, or evaluating NRC license applications or amendments.
  • Professional experience in a technical field.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to write clearly in modern active voice.
  • Ability to learn quickly, think creatively and critically, and work independently on open-ended problems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with fuel fabrication or fuel cycle facilities in commercial or Department of Energy settings.
