Principal Software Engineer, Car Audio Software Project Engineering

Location: Novi, Michigan, USA; hybrid work in the Novi office required. Up to 10% domestic and international travel.

Salary: $125,250–$183,700 per year, depending on experience, location, skills, training, and business needs.

What you will do

• Provide technical and applications support for embedded audio and noise-management projects serving automotive OEM customers.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customer-site embedded system issues and provide hands-on support for complex integration challenges.
• Debug software and hardware interactions, perform root-cause analysis, and lead issue escalations through resolution.
• Support audio-system testing and verification at bench, vehicle, customer, and third-party sites.
• Translate customer requirements and specifications into actionable inputs for internal engineering teams.
• Communicate architecture solutions to customers and collaborate with software, product, acoustic, program, and customer teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in automotive electronic product development engineering; audio-industry experience is preferred.
• BSEE, BSCE, or a related degree in software or electrical engineering.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and experience developing audio-related embedded software.
• Experience with Qualcomm Hexagon DSP, Audio Weaver, digital signal processing, digital filtering, and audio/acoustic systems.
• Experience with real-time embedded multiprocessor environments, audio interfaces such as I2S, TDM, and A2B, and vehicle networking such as CAN and MOST.
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes, audio analyzers, signal generators, emulators, debuggers, ASPICE traceability, and diagnostics including UDS and KWP2000.

Nice to have

• Automotive audio-industry experience.
• Experience optimizing floating-point and fixed-point processing, MIPS/MCPS usage, audio drivers, and embedded audio frameworks.
