Senior Python Developer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid role based in the United Kingdom, with remote work and visits to the Mayfair office in London

What you will do

• Design and develop mission-critical systems supporting trading, investment operations, and client-facing products.
• Analyse requirements, propose solutions, and design software components and systems.
• Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable Python code.
• Review code, uphold engineering standards, and mentor less-experienced developers.
• Optimise Python application performance, scalability, responsiveness, and efficiency.
• Communicate with stakeholders and stay current with Python and software engineering practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing complex applications with an object-oriented language, ideally Python.
• Experience building mission-critical applications and following a robust software development lifecycle.
• Experience and enthusiasm for test automation and CI/CD.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and learning skills.
• Strong STEM degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Knowledge of Python frameworks such as Flask, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, or Pydantic, plus relational databases such as PostgreSQL.

Nice to have

• Experience with message-based architectures, RabbitMQ, REST or GraphQL APIs, and AWS services.
• Experience with DataDog or similar observability tools.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Fargate, or other containerisation technologies.
• TypeScript and React experience, including frontend or fullstack development.
• Experience building software for financial services or investment management organisations.
