Senior Product Design Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, United States

Annual compensation: $178,500 USD, plus stock options.

What you will do

• Lead complex product design and design engineering initiatives from problem definition through implementation, launch, and post-launch measurement.
• Translate visual concepts into production-ready experiences through hands-on coding, prototyping, and collaboration with frontend engineers.
• Create polished mockups, interaction specifications, and coded explorations that communicate design intent.
• Develop and maintain design systems across design and code, including tokens, primitives, semantic naming, and components.
• Apply interaction and motion design principles, including transitions, easing, spring physics, and responsive interactions.
• Use research, experimentation, instrumentation, and AI tools to improve product quality and design-engineering workflows.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in product design, design engineering, or a closely related field, including at least 2 years at a senior level.
• Strong ability to communicate visual and interaction concepts through polished mockups, prototypes, design rationale, and clear communication.
• Experience working directly with engineers as a peer, contributing to code reviews, implementation decisions, and code.
• Experience prototyping in code to a production-quality standard, with knowledge of semantic markup, accessibility, and modern frontend practices.
• Deep understanding of interaction and motion behavior, sophisticated design systems, product requirements, research, experimentation, and outcome measurement.
• Ability to independently manage ambiguous projects, write creative briefs, collaborate across disciplines, and use AI and agentic tools with sound judgment.
