Lead Modern Workplace Engineer (Microsoft 365)

Location: New York, United States

Salary: $225,000–$325,000 annual base salary, plus year-end bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, delivery, governance, lifecycle, and escalation support for SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and OneDrive.
• Design access, identity, and data controls across Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Purview in partnership with InfoSec, Legal, Compliance, and application teams.
• Build PowerShell and Microsoft Graph automation for policy deployment, configuration consistency, remediation, and operational efficiency.
• Lead complex projects independently from scope definition through production delivery, coordinating dependencies across multiple teams.
• Deliver new end-user capabilities including AI and Copilot enablement, enterprise mobility, and integrations with Microsoft 365 services.
• Act as a subject matter expert and senior escalation point for service desk and operations teams.

Requirements

• At least eight years of engineering experience in end-user computing, focused on hands-on solution building and operations.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft 365, especially SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and OneDrive.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, modern authentication, and Microsoft ecosystem best practices.
• Strong PowerShell skills and experience automating Microsoft Graph and Microsoft 365 services.
• Proven ownership of end-to-end solution design and delivery, complex multi-team projects, and senior technical escalations.
• A technical degree is preferred; prior team lead or management experience is welcome, but the role has no direct reports.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Intune, Workspace ONE, MDM, Windows endpoint engineering, SCCM, macOS management, Jamf, or Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview, Copilot and M365 AI enablement, or large-scale migrations and rollouts.
